SL I review - Asgard Root Magazine

One man Greek black metal band, Spectral Lore are familiar to me as I have heard a promo in which they displayed their wares alongside Underjordiska. What we have here is a reissue of their simply titled debut from 2006, repackaged in luxuriant style to the same remarkable detail as the afore-reviewed Kältetod / Veineliis split – with pencilled artwork on an old paper yellowish background that evokes a restless forest at arboreal war with itself. The musical side of things reflects an appreciation of the outsider black metal works of individuals who have produced works under the names of Paysage D’hiver, >Striborg and of course Burzum. The output is always interesting and never descends into the realms of a murky (in the wrong sense of the word) vanity project. Thus, another recommended recording marks a highly successful entry into the black metal universe from Chinese label Temple of Torturous.
